Lunenburg District RCMP investigate home invasions
Lunenburg District RCMP is investigating two home invasions that occurred in Tanners Settlement.
On March 5, at approximately 2:47 p.m., Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a report of an intoxicated and distraught man at the intersection of Grimm Rd. and Tanners Settlement. Upon arrival at the scene, RCMP officers located the man, who was armed with an expandable baton, and safely arrested him.
The 30-year-old Halifax man, was transported by EHS to hospital for assessment.
Information and evidence gathered by investigators indicates that, prior to his arrest, the man entered three nearby homes and assaulted some of the occupants.
A 24-year-old and 47-year-old woman suffered minor injuries at a home on Tanners Settlement Rd. They were treated by EHS at the scene.
At a second home, on Grimm Rd., a 52-year-old man suffered minor injuries. He was also treated by EHS at the scene.
At the third home, also located on Grimm Rd., a 74-year-old woman agreed to let the man use the phone. She was not assaulted.
The Halifax man has been charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon;
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose;
- Unauthorized possession of prohibited weapon or restricted weapon;
- Breaking and entering with intent, committing offence;
- Mischief;
- Failure to comply with probation order.
The man appeared in Bridgewater Provincial Court on March 6 and was remanded into custody. He will return in court on April 3, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.
Investigators do not believe there are other suspects or further risk to the public.
