Statement regarding the upcoming anti-2SLGBTQIA+ protests in Kjipuktuk/Halifax.
On Wednesday, September 20th, an anti-2SLGBTQIA+ protest is set to take place nationwide. The Halifax iteration of this action will be taking place at City Hall (Grand Parade Square, across the street from Venus Envy) and Province House, starting at 10AM with no predetermined end-time.
As a visibly queer and trans-operated business, our top priority during these protests is the safety of our staff and community members.
On Wednesday, September 20th, we will be delaying our opening until we can assess our comfortability and safety.
Although we will be closed to the public, our space will be available to any 2SLGBTQIA+ community members in need of a safe space to decompress or recuperate. If you need a safe place to be, please feel free to stop by.
While we are closed our door will be locked. To access the space, connect with a staff member outside the store or ring our doorbell (to the right of the door, about a meter from the ground).
