Eskasoni RCMP charge man involved in armed robbery
Eskasoni RCMP has charged a man involved in an armed robbery in Eskasoni.
On June 18, 2023, at approximately 11:40 p.m., Eskasoni RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery on Arena Rd. in Eskasoni. RCMP officers learned that a 33-year-old Eskasoni man entered a building on Arena Rd. and demanded cash and a cell phone from a 31-year-old Eskasoni man, while brandishing a knife. The suspect was given cash and he then fled the scene in a stolen vehicle. The victim was not injured during this incident.
On June 19, the suspect was arrested by the Cape Breton Regional Police Service, as part of a separate investigation.
Julian Conrad Sylliboy, 33, of Eskasoni, has been charged with Robbery, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Taking a Motor Vehicle without Consent, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 and Breach of Probation. Sylliboy was remanded into custody and will appear in Sydney Provincial Court on June 22, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.
