RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division investigating suspicious deaths in Cole Harbour

The RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is investigating two suspicious deaths that occurred in Cole Harbour.

Yesterday, at approximately 9 a.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a report of sudden deaths at a residence on Poplar Dr. Inside the home, RCMP officers found the remains of a 72-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman both of Cole Harbour. The two individuals were known to one another and there was no risk to the public.

The woman’s death was a result of homicide and the investigation has determined that the man, who died as a result of self-inflicted wounds, was responsible for the woman’s death.

The investigation shows this to be an incident of intimate partner violence.

Our thoughts are with their loved ones and the community at this difficult time.

The investigation is being led by the Special Investigations Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division and is being assisted by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service, RCMP Forensic Identification Services and RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment.
