Update via Digby Fire
Today at 3:13 Digby Fire was paged to assist the Dept Of Fisheries and Oceans with 16 beached Atlantic White Sided Dolphins in the Joggin.
Our members along with DFO and dozens of community members carried out the Rescue mission.
We are happy to report that all 16 dolphins eventually were ushered into the water. We are hopeful once the tide keeps rising they will safely make their way back out to sea.
This was truly a community effort and we would like to thank everybody who came out to help.

**** MARS Media Release
Late this afternoon MARS received a report of numerous dolphins which had, moments before, became stranded on a mudflat in Digby, NS as the tide quickly dropped.
With limited daylight remaining, MARS personnel were not able to get onsite, however, we were able to enlist the help of local Fisheries and Oceans Canada fisheries officers and members of the Digby Fire department to assist the animals – which turned out to be 16 Atlantic white-sided dolphins!
After discussing the situation with these colleagues and providing information about how to safely respond to the situation and handle these animals, they, along with members of the public, were able to return all animals back into the water!
This was an incredible effort to save these animals and we are hopeful they will head out on the rising tide and make their way safely back out to sea.
Thank you so much to everyone involved – especially those in the community who dropped everything to mount this rescue!
