**** Municipal Release

Road Construction – Pedestrian Access to Granville Mall via Barrington and Hollis streets

Location: Access to Granville Mall via the stairs on Barrington Street and the entryway on Hollis Street

Date: Effective September 15, 2022

Work details: This work is in support of the Cogswell District project. Pedestrian access to Granville Mall via the stairs on Barrington Street along the northbound Transit Terminal and from Hollis Street will be closed during construction.

Pedestrian impact: All access to Granville Mall will be via Duke Street. There is no vehicle or transit stop impacts related to this change.

Road Construction – Lady Hammond Road

 

Location: Lady Hammond Road from Robie Street to Memorial Drive

 

Date: Thursday, September 15

 

Time:  9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.  

 

Work details: This work is for pavement maintenance. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

 

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Quinpool Road

Location: Quinpool Road, from Robie Street to Monastery Lane ​

Date:​ Thursday, Sept. 15

Time: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Work details: Traffic delays will be in place to facilitate pavement testing relating to pre-engineering design for future project work.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Dublin Street

Location: Dublin Street, between Edinburgh Street and Berlin Street

Date: Friday, September 15, 2022 to Monday, October 10, 2022

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays only

Work details: This disruption is to facilitate pipe installation and reinstatement.

Traffic Impact: Motorists can expect delays in the area and are asked to take alternative routes where possible. Pedestrian access will be maintained on the east side of the street.

Traffic Delay – Cunard Street

Location: Cunard Street, from Gottingen to Agricola streets, and from Robie to Windsor streets

Date: Thursday, Sept. 15

Time: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Work details: Traffic delays will be in place to facilitate pavement testing relating to pre-engineering design for future project work.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Chain Lake Drive, from Lacewood to Washmill Lake drives

 

Date: Wednesday, September 14 to Friday, September 16

 

Time:  9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 6 to 9:30 p.m. each day

Traffic Delay – Tower Road

 

Location: Tower Road at Harbourview Drive

 

Date: Wednesday, September 14

 

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  

 

Work details: This work is for connecting the new watermain on Harbourview Drive. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

 

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Street Closure – Windsor Street

 

Location: Windsor Street between Welsford Street and Quinpool Road

 

Date: Wednesday, September 14 to Wednesday, September 21

 

Time: Weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

Work details: A street closure will be in place to facilitate natural gas main installation on the north side of Quinpool Road and the west side of Windsor Street

 

Traffic impact: A street closure will be in place, with a detour on Welsford Street to Robie Street for vehicles and cyclists. Pedestrian access will be maintained during the street closure.

Location: Ross Road, from Salmon River Drive to Cole Harbour Road

Date: Tuesday, Sept. 13

Time: 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Work details: Traffic delays will be in place to facilitate pavement testing relating to pre-engineering design for future project work.

Traffic impact: During this work stop-and-go traffic be in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Cole Harbour Road, from Caldwell Road to Cumberland Drive

Date:  Tuesday, Sept. 13

Time: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: Traffic delays will be in place to facilitate pavement testing relating to pre-engineering design for future project work.

Traffic impact: During this work lane drops be in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Woodland Avenue, from Victoria Road to Ryland Avenue

 

Date: Monday, Sept. 12 to Wednesday, Sept. 14

 

Time: From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day

Traffic Delay – Pleasant Street

 

Location: Pleasant Street, from Everette Street to Osborne Avenue

 

Date: Monday, Sept. 12 and Tuesday, Sept. 13

 

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

 

Work details: This work is for pavement maintenance. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

 

Traffic impact: Lane drops in the inbound lanes will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure – Osborne Avenue

 

Location: Osborne Avenue from Pleasant Street to the end of Osborne Avenue

Date:  Monday, September 12 at 7 a.m. to Tuesday, November 15 at 7 p.m.

Time: The closure will be in place 24 hours per day.

Work details: This work is related to watermain replacement and paving. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact:  The road will be closed 24 hours per day. Local traffic and pedestrians will be accommodated.

Street Closure – Cunard Street

 

Location: Cunard Street, between Creighton and Maynard streets

Date: Sunday, September 11

Time: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Work details: Installation of a new utility pole and transfer of service for new development.

Traffic Impact: Cunard Street will be closed between Creighton and Maynard streets while work is underway. A signed detour route will be in place. The sidewalk will remain open on one side of the street for pedestrian access.

Traffic Delay – Joseph Howe Drive

 

Location: 3824 Joseph Howe Drive, Halifax

Date: Saturday, September 10

Time: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Work details: This work is for communications fiber splicing.

Traffic Impact: Traffic will be down to one lane southbound. Motorists can expect delays in the area and are asked to take alternative routes where possible. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Traffic Delay – Bayers Road

 

Location: 7015 Bayers Road, Halifax

Date: Saturday, September 10

Time: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Work details: This work is for communications fiber splicing.

Traffic Impact: Traffic will be down to one lane outbound on Bayers Road. Access will be maintained to Highway 102 and to Joseph Howe Dr.  Motorists can expect delays in the area and are asked to take alternative routes where possible. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

NEW WORK

VICTORIA COUNTY: Highway 105

Highway 105, from 3.2 kilometres west of Trunk 30 easterly to 600 metres east of Route 312, is reduced to one lane for roadwork until October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Jamesville Bridge, Route 223

Jamesville Bridge is reduced to one lane for repairs until September 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

CONTINUING WORK

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Highway 104, James River

Highway 104, westbound lane about one kilometre west of James River Interchange, Exit 30, is reduced to one lane for about one kilometre.

Twinning work continues until 2023.

Signs are in place and drivers are encouraged to use caution.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Burnett Bridge

Burnett Bridge, over MacLean Brook on Route 224 in Pine Grove/Gays River, is closed until further notice.

Detour signs and a 30-tonne weight restriction are in place. All other trucks are to follow the posted truck route. The detour is via Saint Andrews River Road.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Old Truro Road, Tatamagouche

Old Truro Road, from Kennedy Hill intersection to the Cross Road in North River, is closed until further notice due to a large culvert failure.

A detour is in place.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Salmon River Bridge, Truro

Salmon River Bridge, on Highway 102 between exits 14 and 14A, is reduced to one lane northbound until October 31, due to planned work on the bridge decking.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Slade Road, Tatamagouche

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice due to a bridge closure.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Route 344 (Main Street), Mulgrave

Route 344/Main Street traffic is being re-routed onto the newly installed detour bridge.

The entrance to Mill Street from Main Street is closed, and drivers should use an alternate route. Signs are in place.

The detour will remain in place until October 15.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Trunk 16

Trunk 16, from 1.4 kilometres north of Lincolnville Loop, north to Mattie Road, is reduced to one lane for brush clearing and road work until September 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 101, Windsor

The eastbound off-ramp at Exit 6, Highway 101, is closed for the construction of a new interchange to downtown Windsor.

A detour is available via Exit 5A. The off-ramp will be closed until September 2023.

HANTS COUNTY: Hydes Bridge, Lantz

Hydes Bridge on Highway 277 is closed until further notice.

A detour is in place via Dutch Settlement Road, Elmsdale Road and Trunk 2. Signs are in place.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Indian Path Bridge, Bayport

Indian Path Bridge, Route 332, is closed for replacement until further notice.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY:  East River West Side Road, Eureka

The section between 6280 East River West Side Road and Churchville Road is closed until Monday, October 31 for the replacement of the Eureka Mills Bridge.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: Westville Road

Westville Road at the Westville Road Bridge over Highway 104 is closed nightly, Sunday through Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Work continues until September 30. A detour will be in place and drivers should proceed with caution.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Royal

Bridge, Isle Madame

Port Royal Bridge on Port Royal Road is closed until further notice. A detour is in place on MacEachern Road.

RICHMOND COUNTY: West Bay Road, St. Peter’s

West Bay Road, from Nature Dream Boulevard westerly for 4.6 kilometres, is reduced to one lane for repaving until September 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Trunk 4

Trunk 4, from Riverside Road eastbound for about 7.1 kilometres, is reduced to one lane for repaving until September 30.

Traffic control is on site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

SHELBURNE COUNTY: Highway 103, Jordan Falls

Highway 103, about 100 metres west of Exit 24, has alternating lane closures for rehabilitation work on Jordan Falls Bridge until September 23.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

YARMOUTH COUNTY: Hardscratch Road, Yarmouth

Hardscratch Road, from the Yarmouth town line to Greenville Road, has alternating lane closures for paving and patching until September 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.
