Police charge man and woman with drug trafficking and firearms charges
Police have charged a man and a woman with drug trafficking and firearms charges after a search in Halifax yesterday.
On July 19 at approximately 12 p.m., Investigators in the Guns and Gangs Unit and Drug Unit of the Integrated Special Enforcement Section, along with members of the Quick Response Unit and Emergency Response Team, conducted a search of a residence in the 0-100 block of Elgin Street in Halifax in relation to an ongoing investigation.
Investigators seized a quantity of cocaine, cannabis, cash and five firearms. A man and a woman who were in the residence were arrested without incident.
Peter Walley Nguyen, 31, and Teanna Marie Hillison, 30, are scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
- Possession for the purpose of distributing cannabis
- Possession for the purpose of selling cannabis
- Possession, production and use of illicit cannabis
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Contravention of storage regulations x 5
- Possession of a weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a restricted firearm
- Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition
- Possession of a weapon obtained by crime
Nguyen is also facing two additional charges of Breach of a prohibition order.
