RCMP charge two people with firearms and drug trafficking offences

The Yarmouth/Clare RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) has charged two people with firearms and drug trafficking offences in Greenville, Yarmouth County.

On July 4, 2022, as part of a drug trafficking investigation, Yarmouth/Clare RCMP SCEU, with assistance from the Nova Scotia RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant at a home in Greenville, Yarmouth County. A man and woman were located at the home and safely arrested.

During the search, RCMP officers located and seized a firearm, ammunition, scales, cash, cellular phones, hydromorphone, benzodiazepines and cans of bear spray.

Scott Anthony Deveau, 45, and Sara Elizabeth Owen, 19, both of Yarmouth, were charged with:

  • Possession of Benzodiazepines for the Purpose of Trafficking;
  • Possession of Hydromorphone;
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm;
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized;
  • Unsafe Storage of a Firearm;
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

Deveau was also charged with Failure to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order (2 counts), Possession of Ammunition Contrary to a Prohibition Order and Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order.

Deveau was remanded into custody and will appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court on July 6, 2022 at 9:30 a.m.

Owen was released on conditions and will appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court at a later date.

The investigation was assisted by the Yarmouth Town RCMP, Yarmouth RCMP General Investigation Section, Southern RCMP Traffic Services – Yarmouth and the RCMP Forensic Identification Section.
