Amherst man facing several charges following police investigation

An investigation by the Amherst Police Department into a break and enter has resulted in several charges being laid against an Amherst man.

Bradley Richard Hicks, 28, has been charged with break and enter, two counts of failing to comply with release conditions, possession of break-in tools, theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime valued at under $5,000.

Hicks was arrested shortly before 1 p.m. on March 19, 2023, following an investigation by police into a complaint of a break and enter and theft from a shed in the Copp Avenue area.

During the investigation, officers recovered an assortment of property related to the incident.

The investigation is continuing, with the possibility that more charges may be laid.

Hicks was held overnight. He is scheduled to make an appearance in Amherst provincial court today, March 20, 2023, to answer to the charges.

During his court appearance, he is also scheduled to make his second appearance on more than 30 similar charges that were laid following an earlier investigation into break-ins and thefts from vehicles. His first court appearance on those charges happened on Feb. 28, 2023.
