Police issue 40 tickets for distracted driving, speeding and other vehicle-related offences yesterday

Halifax Regional Police Traffic Unit is focusing on distracted driving throughout the month of February, and yesterday officers issued 40 tickets for distracted driving, speeding and other motor vehicle-related offences.

Members from the Traffic Unit issued 40 summary offence tickets: three for using a cell phone while driving, one for carless and imprudent driving, 15 for speeding and 21 for other offences including no insurance, expired plates and invalid inspections.

In a continued effort to address traffic safety issues and educate citizens on the rules of the road, our officers focus on distracted driving and speed enforcement. We all have a role to play in keeping our roads safe. If you see someone driving dangerously, report it to police by calling 911.
