RCMP charges Bayport man with second-degree murder

The RCMP has charged a 58-year-old man from Bayport with second-degree murder after a man was intentionally struck with a motor vehicle in Dublin Shore.

On June 17, at 10:30 p.m., Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a report of a man being run over by a truck.​ Before police arrived, the truck had fled the scene. The victim, a 44-year-old man from Lunenburg, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Information gathered at the scene determined that the truck had run over the victim several times. Police located the driver and truck at a home on Highway 332 in Bayport. The driver was arrested without incident.

Terry Richard Johnson remains in custody. He is scheduled to appear in Lunenburg Provincial Court on June 21 and is charged with second-degree murder.

The investigation is ongoing and led by the RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit, with assistance from the Lunenburg District RCMP, Bridgewater Police Service and the RCMP Forensic Identification Section
