RCMP update on search for missing fishermen

The RCMP is updating on the search for the five missing fishermen from the Chief Williams Saulis fishing vessel.

Yesterday, RCMP Air Services searched approximately 100 kilometres of coastline from Digby Gut to Harbourville by helicopter. The search did not locate the missing fishermen nor debris from the vessel.

Due to unfavourable  conditions, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team (URT) is unable to search today. Search efforts are expected to resume after the holiday on Monday, December 28, weather permitting.

The Nova Scotia RCMP is currently in the planning stages to partner with the Canadian Coast Guard to provide a platform to assist in recovery efforts which will include sonar exploration.

The Nova Scotia RCMP will resume daily updates on December 28.
