Two men charged in Colton Cook Murder, investigation ongoing
RCMP have charged two Yarmouth County men in the death of 26-year-old Colton James Cook who was reported missing to police on September 27.
Remains were found on September 27 near a burned vehicle and on September 29 Cook’s identifiable remains were located at a scene near the intersection of Saunders Rd. and Raynardton Rd. in Yarmouth County.
Robert Charles Rogers, 57-years-old, and Wayne Richard Crawford, 36-years-old, both of Yarmouth County were arrested yesterday in Digby County. Each is charged with Murder and Interferes with Human Remains. Both men appeared in Yarmouth Provincial Court today and are being held in custody. Crawford will next appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court on October 5 at 9:30 a.m. and Rogers is to appear in Shelburne Provincial Court on October 29 at 9:30 a.m.
The RCMP’s Southwest Nova Major Crimes Unit is continuing with the investigation with the assistance of Yarmouth Town and Rural Detachments. Police remain on scene in Yarmouth County and are asking the public to refrain from the area.
