A note from Fire Chief Ken Stuebing regarding Bloomfield fire
I want to extend my sincere gratitude to our dedicated firefighters, support and management teams for their exceptional efforts in responding to the recent fire at the Bloomfield Centre and the many other incidents during a stormy weekend.
In challenging and arduous conditions, our crews worked tirelessly for several hours to contain the fire and prevent further damage to the surrounding buildings for the Bloomfield incident.

This was a three alarm fire that initially required many additional resources, including two engines above what would normally have been assigned to a second alarm fire, two aerial ladders, three tactical units, our command post and drone operations, two district chiefs, two platoon captains and our on-call FST chief as well as our fire investigations team. All told the incident had over 50 firefighters and support members involved.
This work would not have been possible without the critical support from our logistics team, safety officers (Platoon Captains), fire investigations and command teams and our roster coordinator to support our frontline response.
I am incredibly proud of the teamwork and commitment displayed to ensure safety and protection of the neighborhood and our partnering responding agencies, as well as firefighter safety.
We also extend our appreciation to our partners at Halifax Regional Police Transit, Public Works, and NS Power for their collaboration in keeping the scene safe and operational.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to the residents for their patience, cooperation, and support during this response.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Thank you all for your service and support.
