Police charge man with murder
Halifax Regional Police has charged a man with murder in relation to an assault that occurred last spring.
On May 9, 2024, police were called to the East Coast Forensic Hospital in Dartmouth after a patient was assaulted by another patient. A 69-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
On May 10, 2024, Mohamed Isaak, 32, was charged with aggravated assault and remanded back to the East Coast Forensic Hospital.
On July 6, 2024, the victim, Allen Nickerson, died in hospital.
The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service has concluded Nickerson’s death was a homicide. The charges against Issak have been upgraded to second degree murder.
Mohamed Issak will appear in Dartmouth provincial court on January 16, 2025.
