Funding for New, Existing Community Facilities in HRM
———————————————————-

Residents will benefit from a planned community centre and facility upgrades in Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) thanks to provincial grants.

“Our government understands the fundamental importance of community spaces,” said Brendan Maguire, Minister of Community Services and MLA for Halifax Atlantic, on behalf of Allan MacMaster, Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. “They are essential in maintaining personal relationships, staying physically active, keeping each other safe and fostering a sense of belonging.”

The Sambro & Area Community Association received funding for a feasibility study for the development of a new community centre to include a shoreline gazebo and, in future, a floating dock that will provide barrier-free fishing at Grand Lake in Williamswood.

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #152 in Spryfield and the Association of Bayside Camp and Retreat Centre in Sambro Head also received provincial funding to install generators.

The grants are part of a series of announcements taking place across the province.

Quotes:
“After several years of fundraising towards our group’s goals and dreams, this provincial funding has energized our team and our community. It has made our end goals seem more achievable, less of a dream and a very realistic opportunity. We are very thankful for this support.”
— Leslie Harnish, President, Sambro & Area Community Association
