Meteghan RCMP charge two with firearms offences

Meteghan RCMP has charged two people with firearms offences following a search at a residence in Bangor, Digby County.

On May 17, Meteghan RCMP, with the assistance of Digby RCMP and RCMP Southwest Nova Traffic Services, executed a search warrant at a residence in Bangor as part of an ongoing firearms investigation. Officers safely arrested a woman at the residence, and seized three unsecured firearms, a tactical knife, a cross bow, a pellet gun and a quantity of ammunition.

Through the investigation, Meteghan RCMP identified a man believed to be associated to the weapons, and on May 17, officers located and seized his vehicle at the Meteghan Wharf where an unsecured firearm was located inside the vehicle and seized.

On May 22, the man turned himself in to Meteghan RCMP and was safely arrested at the detachment.

Natacha Rose Marie Maillet, 43, and Dustin Donnie Maillet, 21, both of Bangor, have been charged with:

  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Unsafe Storage of Firearm (two counts)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (three counts)
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (three counts)

Additionally, Dustin Maillet has been charged with:

  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

Both are scheduled to appear in Digby Provincial Court on August 19.
