We’re fundraising for animals like Bandit, our one-eyed buddy

Bandit came to Bide Awhile in early March of this year. Upon his arrival, it was clear that the cards had not been in his favour.

He had been suffering from a bad case of upper respiratory infection that went untreated, resulting in a nasty infection of his eye. Unfortunately, the eye was so badly infected that it would need to be surgically removed.

Even with the lack of vision and pain from the infection, Bandit was a sweet guy who wasn’t letting his situation slow him down.

On April 11th, Bandit was cleared for his surgery and had a successful eye removal. While it took him a few days to get accustomed to this next stage of life, he soon forgave the staff and was back to his loving self.

Bandit’s surgery site has healed well, and he now shows off his new look to everyone who comes into the shelter.

The eye removal surgery, vet visits, medications, treatments, and general care have cost over $1,500 for our shelter which has already seen a huge increase in animal care costs.

We’re currently taking part in the Emera Blue Nose Marathon Charity Challenge and have raised over 70% of our $10,000 fundraising goal to support animals like Bandit. This is the last week for fundraising, and we need your help! Please consider a donation to our mission, share Bandit’s story, and encourage others to take part.
