Get Up There 2024
Story
Every day one Nova Scotian dies from a disease that is 90% preventable.
That disease is colorectal cancer.
2024 will mark the 16th Anniversary of Get Up There (GUT), which raises funds and awareness to support colorectal cancer screening and prevention. Funds raised through GUT have helped the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation purchase state-of-the-art equipment and technology used to screen for colorectal cancer.
GUT supported the opening of a 3rd Endoscopy Suite at DGH which is used exclusively for screening FIT-positive patients, and which has eliminated the wait list for these patients.
Last year’s GUT helped support a public awareness campaign to get more people to complete and return their FIT tests. GUT 2024 funds raised will also be directed to improving FIT return rates across Nova Scotia. Let’s move that needle!
