National Human Trafficking Awareness Day: Know Human Trafficking

Today is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, and Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers is encouraging you to participate by educating yourself about the signs and indicators of human trafficking and to report suspicious activity to police.

As part of this initiative, Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers is proud to support the Women’s Trucking Federation of Canada, which launched the Know Human Trafficking campaign, and now includes a free online training course for truckers and the public.

“By understanding the signs and indicators of human trafficking, we can all play a role in identifying and reporting potential cases, ultimately helping to prevent this crime and protect vulnerable individuals.” – says Sgt. Mike Lidstone, Coordinator, Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.

As part of their commitment to this cause, Classic Freight Transport Ltd., located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, was one of the first Atlantic Canadian transportation services to wrap a 53-foot trailer to help promote the campaign.

“Our wrapped trailer travels across North America, promoting the campaign. Our goal is to generate awareness about human trafficking, one mile at a time.” – Sue Ritter, Director of Safety and People Services, Classic Freight Transport.
