Suspect in sexual assault identified

Halifax Regional Police has identified the subject of a sexual assault after requesting assistance from the public on February 8 to identify the man.

The subject turned himself into police yesterday, and the investigation remains ongoing.

We thank the public and the media for their assistance.

 

Police investigate sexual assault

Police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred in Dartmouth last month and are asking the public for assistance in identifying a suspect.

Police received a report that on January 19 at approximately 9:30 p.m. a man approached a group of youth, who were not known to him, at the Mic Mac bus terminal. The man followed the group of youth onto a bus, made sexual comments to the group and touched some of the youths in a sexual manner. The youths exited the bus and reported the incident to trusted adults.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 40s to 50s, approximately 5’6” tall, with short white hair, wearing a black and grey checkered jacket, a black hat and was carrying a camouflage print backpack.

We are not releasing further details out of respect and concern for the survivors’ privacy and well-being.
