Storm impacts on municipal services | Monday, January 29 | 12 p.m. 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is providing the following updates on municipal service impacts.

Municipal offices

All municipal offices, including in-person Customer Service Centres and the Planning & Development permit office, re-opened at noon.

Employees who can work from home are being asked to do so.

Parks & Recreation

The Halifax Public Gardens are closed today.

Many municipal recreation facilities are delaying opening until 4 p.m. today. A decision will be made at 2 p.m. regarding whether rentals, facilities and programming activities will continue as scheduled.

Solid Waste

Curbside collection has been cancelled today due to the winter storm. Recovery collection will occur on Saturday, Feb. 3.

The Permanent Household Special Waste Depot located at 20 Horseshoe Lake Drive will be closed on Saturday, Feb. 3 but will be open on Saturday, Feb. 10 for regular business hours.

Community Safety

The Halifax Ground Search and Rescue team is conducting wellness checks today to assess the safety of anyone who chooses not to leave an outdoor sheltering location and is also offering transportation to temporary emergency shelters for those sleeping rough during this weather event.
