In photos – Looking cool on the ice
HRFE members from Stn 45 – Fall River) and Stn 9 (Sackville) took to the ice to train for ice rescue.
On the ice, members practiced self extraction techniques and various types of rescue using various resources such as the sled, single and multiple rescuers, and hand signals to shore. On shore, members practiced hand signals with the ice team as well as use and preperatuon of gear, including the rope system used to keep rescuers and victims safe.
A reminder to residents of HRM that ice testing on local lakes have been discontinued.
