Police lay charges after pursuit in Halifax
Halifax Regional Police have charged a woman in relation to a pursuit in Halifax early this morning.
At approximately 3:50 a.m. officers attempted to stop a vehicle near Brunswick and Prince streets in relation to an impaired driving investigation. The driver of the vehicle did not stop, and officers called off the pursuit out of concern for public safety. The suspect attempted to strike the officers with her vehicle but they were able to avoid the collision. The vehicle continued on until the driver lost control and struck a parked vehicle on Tower Road.
Officers arrested the driver and seized a knife. The driver was taken to hospital for precautionary measures.
Haley Nicole Quinn, 24, is scheduled to appear in Halifax court today to face charges of:
- Impaired operation of a conveyance
- Dangerous operation of a conveyance
- Flight from police
- Resist arrest
- Assault peace officer with a weapon
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
Quin was also arrested on two outstanding warrants for other police agencies in relation to charges for
break and enter, theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
