New Glasgow Regional Police charge male after smashing several windows in New Glasgow

On the 16th of October 2023 at approximately 4:00pm, New Glasgow Regional Police responded to multiple 911 calls of a male actively smashing windows, causing significant property damage around Clyde Street and George Street, New Glasgow, NS.

New Glasgow Regional Police officers immediately responded, located and arrested the male suspect on George Street.

The male suspect was arrested without incident.

Robert William Cleary 36, of Pictou County has been charged with:

  • 4 counts of Mischief (Damage to Property)- Under $5000.00.
  • 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.00.

Robert William Cleary has been remanded into custody and will appear in Provincial Court in Pictou on 25th October 2023.

The incident resulted in substantial damage to residences in the nearby area.

The New Glasgow Regional Police would like to thank the public for their information on calling in to report the incident immediately to police that led to quick apprehension of Robert William Cleary.

New Glasgow Regional Police continue to investigate.
