Valley Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit charge man and woman with drug and weapons offences

The Valley Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit has charged a man and a woman with drug and firearms related offences following a search of a property in New Minas.

On September 15, the Valley Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, assisted by the Kings General Investigative Section, the Kings District RCMP, and Kentville Police Service General Investigative Section, executed a search warrant at a property on Castle Loma Dr. in New Minas. Officers safely arrested a man and a woman, and subsequently searched the property.

During the search of the property, officers seized substances believed to be cocaine, methamphetamine, psilocybin (magic mushrooms), and benzodiazepines, a conducted energy weapon, multiple edged weapons, an airsoft rifle and a quantity of cash.

The man and woman were remanded into custody and appeared in Kentville Provincial Court on September 18.

Thirty-four-year-old Justin Dakota Wheaton of New Minas has been charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (five counts)
  • Possession of a Restricted Weapon (two counts)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, and
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

Thirty-eight-year-old Gillian Leigh Anderson of New Minas has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (five counts) and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

Wheaton and Anderson will return to Kentville Provincial Court on September 26.
