Halifax Water Readies Infrastructure for Severe Weather

Halifax Water will continue working closely with the city and the province throughout Hurricane Lee.

Teams have been preparing for the storm, inspecting stormwater infrastructure to ensure it is operating at full capacity and mitigating areas of risk. This includes ensuring that equipment and supplies are readily available so crews can respond to storm-related issues.

In preparation for potentially extreme weather, residents are strongly encouraged to ensure that storm drains, catchbasins, and culverts are free of leaves and other debris if it is safe to do so.

If residents experience flooding or other storm-related issues impacting Halifax Water services, they should report them to our Customer Care Centre 24/7 Emergency Line at 902-420-9287.

The potential for severe impacts on critical infrastructure is higher during extreme weather. For emergency purposes, Halifax Water recommends that residents store at least three days’ worth of potable water for each person in the home.

To ensure the safety of our communities and our staff, please maintain a safe distance when Halifax Water staff or contractors are working in your area.
