**** Truro Police Release

The Truro Police Service is conducting a pilot project on the feasibility and effectiveness of Body Worn Cameras. The pilot project will last for 2 months and the results will be presented to the Truro Board of Police Commissioners at the October meeting.

The cameras worn by officers collect video and audio. Those officers wearing the camera will have the camera clearly visible.

The body worn cameras will compliment our existing in car camera systems which we have used for several years.

It is hoped that the body worn cameras will assist in improving public and officer safety, increasing transparency and further enhance our evidence gathering capabilities.
