The Macdonald Bridge will be closed for the duration of Labour Day Weekend, including Monday, for paving.
The bridge will close to vehicle traffic at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, and reopen at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
The sidewalk and bike lane will be open, however, there will be intermittent interruptions to the sidewalk access to allow for repairs of the pedestrian lane. Signage will be posted and pedestrians will be instructed to share the bike lane with cyclists.
During those times, cyclists are asked to walk their bikes in the bike lane. If walking your bike isn’t possible, please ride slowly, yield to pedestrians and use extreme caution.
We understand this closure is coming on an already busy weekend for Halifax and apologize for the added inconvenience and disruptions. Please plan ahead and give yourself extra time to get to your destinations safely.
All bridge maintenance is weather-dependent and subject to change.v
