Special weather statement in effect

Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

Total rainfall: 30 to 50 mm. Locally higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Locations: Atlantic coast from Yarmouth to Halifax.

Time span: Friday morning until Saturday.

Similar storms in the past have caused hazardous driving conditions, pooling of water on roadways, and localized flooding in low lying areas. Be sure storm drains and gutters are cleared of debris.

Remarks: A trough of low pressure approaching the Maritimes from New England on Friday will bring periods of heavy rain with embedded thunderstorms to parts of the southwestern Atlantic coast beginning Friday morning. There is considerable uncertainty in the timing of this event and areas of heaviest rainfall.
