Death ruled a homicide

The death of a 26-year-old man that occurred this weekend in Halifax has been ruled a homicide.

On August 6 at approximately 9:40 p.m., police received a report of a disturbance that had occurred on the Halifax waterfront in the area of the 1500 block of Lower Water Street. Officers located an unresponsive man on the boardwalk. The victim was transported to hospital where he later died.

The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy and has ruled the manner of death to be a homicide. The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Davelle Rodney Vance Desmond. Our thoughts are with Davelle’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Members from the Special Investigations Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continue to investigate the case and are asking anyone with information about the incident or video from the area, who has not already spoken with police, to call 902-490-5020.
