Severe thunderstorm watch in effect
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing heavy rain.
Potential rainfall rates: 25 to 35 mm per hour or higher in thunderstorms.
Locations: central Nova Scotia.
Time span: continuing until this morning.
Remarks: A line of strong thunderstorms is moving through central Nova Scotia and will continue to move east this morning. Torrential downpours may accompany these thunderstorms.

Rain, at times heavy, continues.
Rain, at times heavy with scattered thunderstorms, will continue.
Total rainfall amount: 30 to 50 mm. Possibly higher in thunderstorms.
Rainfall rate: 25 to 35 mm/h possible in thunderstorms.
Location: western and central Nova Scotia.
Remarks: Rain, heavy at times, with embedded thunderstorms giving torrential downpours continues to move into western Nova Scotia this morning. Total rainfall amounts will be highly variable due to the embedded thunderstorms. Rainfall rates of 10 to 20 mm/h are expected in general, with rates of 25 to 35 mm/h possible in the strongest thunderstorms. Rain will begin tapering to showers early this morning.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
