RCMP Southeast traffic services charge two drivers with stunting on Hwy. 103
RCMP Southeast Traffic Services – Chester, has charged two drivers with stunting on Hwy. 103.
On July 12, at approximately 1:20 p.m., an officer with RCMP Southeast Traffic Services was conducting traffic enforcement on Hwy. 103 in Western Shore, when a Subaru Crosstrek was observed on radar travelling at 171 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. A traffic stop was completed on the vehicle. The driver, a 23-year-old Dartmouth woman, was charged with Stunting.
Later that same day, at approximately 4:20 p.m., the officer, who continued traffic enforcement on Hwy. 103, this time in the Tantallon area, saw a Mazda 5 on radar travelling at 156 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. A traffic stop was completed on the vehicle. The driver, a 25-year-old Dartmouth man, was charged with Stunting.
Stunting in Nova Scotia carries a fine of $2,422.50 for first time offenders and results in an immediate 7-day driver’s license suspension.
One of the contributing factors of serious injury and fatal collisions is speed. The RCMP is committed to reducing serious injuries and fatal collisions by prevention, education, and enforcement.
