INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT

Last evening the Truro Police Service, Truro Fire Service, and EHS responded to an industrial accident at Northeast Nutrition on Willow St in Truro.

A 55-year-old male from Ontario suffered fatal injuries when a load of material shifted, trapping the male.

The Truro Police Service is assisting the Nova Scotia Department of Labour in their investigation.

We have contacted the deceased’s family in Ontario. However, his name is being withheld pending additional notifications.

Police lay charge for assault on Halifax Transit driver

Police have charged a youth in relation to an assault on a Halifax Transit driver that occurred in Dartmouth earlier this month.

On June 2 at approximately 12 p.m. officers responded to a report of an assault on a Halifax Transit driver who was traveling as passenger on a Halifax Transit bus. Two youths entered the bus in the 100 block of Wyse Road and sat next to the victim. The youths began harassing the victim and then one of the youths assaulted him before both youths exited the bus and fled the area on foot.

Yesterday at approximately 10:50 a.m., officers arrested the suspect without incident in Dartmouth. A 16-year-old youth is scheduled to appear in youth court to face one count of assault causing bodily harm.
