Valley Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit charge two with drug offences

The Valley Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit has charged two people with drug offences in New Minas.

On April 6, 2023, as part of an ongoing investigation, the Valley Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant at a home on Kings Crescent in New Minas. Officers located three people at the home and all were safely arrested. During the search, officers located and seized Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Prescription medication, an imitation handgun, an imitation rifle, cash, scales and packaging.

Mark Walter Harris, 48, and Deanna Lynn O’Neil, 36, both of New Minas, have been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (3 counts) and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.

Harris is also charged with Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order.

O’Neil is also charged with Breach of Probation (2 counts).

Both were released on conditions and will appear in Kentville Provincial Court on May 23, 2023.

The third person who was arrested was released without charge.

The investigation was assisted by the Kings District RCMP General Investigation Section, South Shore Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, Lunenburg District RCMP, the Bridgewater Police Service, the Kentville Police Service and the Criminal Intelligence Service of Nova Scotia.
