Looking for a unique way to support Halifax Search and Rescue?

We’re formally announcing HSAR’s all new for 2023 fundraiser to be hosted on June 3rd and 4th in Devon, NOVA Scotia.

Appropriately called Trails N Tails, it will feature a 1/2 marathon distance trail run on Saturday, June 3.

On June 4th, we’ll have a 3.5 km timed Canitrail race, followed by a longer untimed dog walk.

Wondering what Canitrail is- it’s similar to Canicross… Only we throw more dirt in to the equation. Like a lot more dirt. It wouldn’t be Ground Search and Rescue (#GSAR) if it didn’t involve a lot of dirt.

For those familiar with HSAR’s Eco-Endurance Challenge, yah, picture those levels of dirt, because we’re returning to Devon, NOVA Scotia to host this event.

Wait, what, we lost you at Canicross because you’re not sure what it is? OK, so… place a harness on your dog. Put a harness around your waist. Connect the two of you together by tether. That’s canicross. For the timed event its mandatory for the safety of you and your dog.

Don’t want to run, but still want to support HSAR and get outside? Then the untimed event is for you. While we recommend the harness (because it looks super cool…) it’s not a requisite for the 5k untimed event. A collar and leash is. (No off leash dogs)

So mark it on your calendar and share it on your social media page.

Know of businesses that might be willing to sponsor the event? we’ll be looking for corporate assistance to make the event possible.

Wondering how to register? We’ll soon have a Race Roster event created to sign up for both the trail run and the dog events.
