Man arrested following flight from police

Halifax District RCMP arrested a 26-year-old man from Middle Sackville, after refusing to stop for police.

Just after midnight on June 28, a member of the Halifax District RCMP attempted to pull over a pick-up truck for a burnt out headlight on Beaver Bank Rd. The truck refused to stop and turned into a driveway.​ At the end of the driveway, the driver fled on foot in the woods and left the truck running. A quantity of drugs was located in the truck. The Halifax Regional Police K9 Unit attended and searched for the suspect.​ An off duty RCMP member, who was aware of the incident, saw the suspect running through a backyard and ran after him. Shortly after, the suspect ran up a tree and once back on the ground, he was arrested without incident.

The man was released from custody and is schedule to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date. He is facing charges of Flight from Police, Possession of a Controlled Substances for the Purpose of Trafficking and Obstruction.
