Rainfall warning in effect
Rain, at times heavy, is expected.
Total rainfall: up to 50 mm locally.
Locations: the Atlantic Coast of Nova Scotia and most of Cape Breton.
Time span: overnight tonight and into Thursday morning.
Remarks: Rain at times heavy will develop this evening over the western portion of the province, spreading eastward reaching Cape Breton Thursday morning. Precipitation will end from west to east across the province Thursday.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
Wind warning in effect
Maximum wind gusts: 90 to 100 km/h.
Locations: Nova Scotia.
Time span: overnight tonight and into Thursday morning.
Remarks: Strong southerlies ahead of an intense trough of low pressure will develop over the western portion of the province overnight tonight reaching Cape Breton by Thursday morning. Winds will diminish from west to east across the province Thursday.
High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur.
Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
