Weekly Traffic Advisories (Nov 25)

Note: Each week the local listings are expanded and updated. During the week new and updated tasks are added. Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

 

**** Municipal Release

Road Closures – Maynard Street

Location: Maynard Street, from Cogswell to Harris streets

Dates: Thursday, December 1, Friday, December 2 and Monday, December 5

 

Times: Thursday, December 1, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

  Friday, December 2, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  Monday, December 5, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Work details: This work is related to the installation of traffic calming measures. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

 

Traffic impact: Rolling closures on Maynard Street, from Cogswell to Harris streets, will be in place while work is underway. Marked detours will be in place. Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Massachusetts Avenue ramp

Location: Massachusetts Avenue ramp, from Windsor Street to Massachusetts Avenue

Date: Thursday, Dec. 1 to Sunday, Dec. 4

Time: Overnight from 6:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. each day

Work details: Traffic delays can be expected to support the temporary Massachusetts Avenue ramp closure to facilitate the paving of MacKintosh Street overpass, as part of HRM-NS Capital Project 2022-088. A signed detour route will be in place while work is underway.

Traffic impact: The ramp from Massachusetts Avenue inbound, from the Windsor Street ramp, will be closed while work is underway. Lane reductions will be in place on the Windsor Street ramp, northbound.

Road Closure – Cornwallis Street

Location: Cornwallis Street between Gottingen and Maitland streets

Date: November 30 to December 2

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate pipe work.

Traffic impacts: The south sidewalk on Cornwallis Street will remain open while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Note: With the nearby closure of the Barrington and Cornwallis street intersection in support of the Cogswell District project, southbound traffic on Barrington Street may detour via Cornwallis and Brunswick streets to access downtown. Southbound traffic on Barrington Street may also detour via Upper Water Street to reconnect with Barrington Street.

This work is not affiliated with the Cogswell District project.

Traffic Delays – Seaforth Street

Location: Seaforth Street, between Oxford and Dublin streets

Date: Tuesday, November 29 to Thursday, December 1

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

Work details: Traffic delays will be in place to facilitate underground utility work.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure – Massachusetts Avenue Access Ramps

Location: Access to Massachusetts Avenue from Ramp Mac-G (coming from MacKay Bridge and from Barrington Street) to Massachusetts Avenue, and from Windsor Street Ramp to Massachusetts Avenue

Date: Saturday, November 26 to Sunday, November 27

Time: 8 a.m. Saturday, November 26 to 7 p.m. Sunday, November 27

Road Closure – Waverley Road

Location:​ Waverley Road, between 404 and 420 Waverley Road

Date:​ Friday, Nov. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 26

Time:​ 6 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. on Saturday

Work details:​ This work is to support service connections and the reinstatement of Waverley Road, as part of the Port Wallace development.

Traffic impact:​ Waverley Road, between civic address 404 and 420, will be closed while work is underway. Local access will be maintained. The sidewalk will also be closed during this work. Vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle traffic will be redirected at Montague Road (southbound) and Breeze Drive (northbound). Detour signage and traffic control personal will be in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

CONTINUING WORK

ANNAPOLIS COUNTY: Brickton Bridge, Brickton

Brickton Bridge on Mount Hanley Road will be closed for repairs until December 16.

A detour is in place.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Highway 104, James River

Highway 104, westbound lane about one kilometre west of James River Interchange, Exit 30, is reduced to one lane for about one kilometre.

Twinning work continues until 2023.

Signs are in place and drivers are encouraged to use caution.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Burnett Bridge, Pine Grove

Burnett Bridge, over McLean Brook on Route 224 in Pine Grove, is closed until further notice.

Detour signs and a 30-tonne weight restriction are in place. All other trucks are to follow the posted truck route. The detour is via Saint Andrews River Road.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Old Truro Road, Tatamagouche

Old Truro Road, from Kennedy Hill intersection to the Cross Road in North River, is closed until further notice due to a large culvert failure.

A detour is in place.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Slade Road, Tatamagouche

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice due to a bridge closure.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Apple River Bridge

Apple River Bridge, on Shulie Road between Advocate and Joggins, is closed until further notice due to structural damage.

Signs and detour are in place.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Route 344 (Main Street), Mulgrave

Route 344/Main Street traffic is being re-routed onto the newly installed detour bridge.

The entrance to Mill Street from Main Street is closed, and drivers should use an alternate route. Signs are in place.

The detour will remain in place until Wednesday, November 30.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 102, Bedford/Lower Sackville

Highway 102, from Exit 4A to Exit 4C, will have lane reductions and intermittent road closures on the northbound and southbound highway for the construction of the Highway 107-Highway 102 Interchange.

Highway 102 northbound and southbound, Highway 101, Bedford Highway, Bedford Bypass, Duke Street, Glendale Avenue and Sackville Drive will have intermittent road closures for blasting until June 30, 2023.

Traffic control will be on-site. Road closures for blasting will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday to Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday. Lane reductions will occur from sunrise to sunset Monday to Thursday and from sunrise to noon on Friday.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 101, Windsor

The eastbound off-ramp at Exit 6, Highway 101, is closed for the construction of a new interchange to downtown Windsor.

A detour is available via Exit 5A. The off-ramp will be closed until September 2023.

HANTS COUNTY: Hydes Bridge, Lantz

Hydes Bridge on Highway 277 is closed until further notice.

A detour is in place via Dutch Settlement Road, Elmsdale Road and Trunk 2. Signs are in place.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Dunmore Road, Dunmore

Dunmore Road, from one kilometre east of Trunk 19 easterly for 6.3 kilometres, is reduced to one lane for gravelling until Wednesday, November 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Indian Path Bridge, Bayport

Indian Path Bridge, Route 332, is closed for replacement until further notice.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: East River West Side Road, Eureka

The section between 6280 East River West Side Road and Churchville Road is closed until Wednesday, November 30, for the replacement of the Eureka Mills Bridge.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: Westville Road, New Glasgow

Westville Road at Highway 104 is closed nightly, Sunday through Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Work continues until Wednesday, November 30. A detour will be in place and drivers should proceed with caution.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Royal Bridge, Isle Madame

Port Royal Bridge on Port Royal Road is closed until further notice. A detour is in place on MacEachern Road.

SHELBURNE COUNTY: Highway 103, Jordan Falls

Highway 103, about 100 metres west of Exit 24, has alternating lane closures for rehabilitation work on Jordan Falls Bridge until Wednesday, November 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Highway 105

Highway 105, from 3.2 kilometres west of Trunk 30 easterly to 600 metres east of Route 312, is reduced to one lane for road work until Wednesday, November 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Seal Island Bridge
Seal Island Bridge is reduced to one lane for inspections until December 8.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Trunk 30, Tarbotvale

Trunk 30, from 500 metres west of Route 312, is reduced to one lane until December 20, for replacement of a retaining wall.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.
