Weekly Traffic Advisories (Nov 10)

Note: Each week the local listings are expanded and updated. During the week new and updated tasks are added. Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

 

**** Municipal Release

Road Construction – Lady Hammond Road

Location: Lady Hammond Road, from Robie Street to Memorial Drive

Date: Friday, Nov. 17 and Saturday, Nov. 18

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily

Work details: This work is related to road maintenance. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: During this work, the signals at the intersection of Robie Street and Lady Hammond Road will be shut down. Traffic control personnel will be in place to direct traffic and pedestrians.​ Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Construction – Lucasville Road

Location:​ Lucasville Road, from Bryanston Road to Waterstone Run

Date: Thursday, Nov. 17 from noon to 4 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details:​ This work is related to paving renewal.

Traffic impact:​ Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.​ Pedestrian access will be maintained. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Samuel Danial Drive

Location: Samuel Danial Drive, Eastern Passage

Date: Thursday, Nov. 17

Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Work details: This work is related to road maintenance. Work will take place from the Cow Bay Road intersection to the end of Samual Daniel Drive. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic Delay – Portland Street

Location: Portland Street, at the intersection with Green Village Lane

Date: Wednesday, Nov. 15 to Friday, Nov. 18.

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

Work details: This work is to support a natural gas pipe installation. Further questions should be sent to Eastward Energy at 902-466-2003.

Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times. Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Cowie Hill Road

Location: Cowie Hill Road, in front of civic address 166

Date: Wednesday, Nov. 16 and Thursday, Nov. 17

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

Work details: This work is for natural gas service installation.

Traffic Impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible

Traffic Delay – Highfield Park Drive

Location: Highfield Park Drive, at each end of Joseph Young Street

Date: Monday, Nov. 14 to Wednesday Nov 23

Time: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Work details: This work is to support the installation of an electrical duct bank.

Traffic Impact: The sidewalk on the north side will be closed while work is underway, but will reopen when work is not taking place. At times, the westbound lane will be narrowed. Two-way traffic will be maintained. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay and Sidewalk Closure – Veterans Memorial Lane

Location:​ Veterans Memorial Lane, from Robie to Summer streets

Date: Tuesday, November 15, 2022 to Tuesday, February 7, 2023

Time: Sidewalk will be closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week until work is complete. Lane closures will take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays.

Work details:​ To facilitate restoration of a section of the Camp Hill Cemetery fence.

Traffic impact: The south sidewalk will be closed on Veteran’s Memorial Lane starting on Tuesday, November 15, and remain closed until the work is complete. The work will also require intermittent lane closures.​ Lane closures will take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays.​ ​

Traffic Delay – Oxford Street

Location: Oxford Street, at the intersection of Oxford and North streets and the intersection of Oxford Street and Chebucto Road.

Date:​Thursday, Nov. 10 from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Friday, Nov. 11 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

​ Work details: This work is to support the installation of Nova Scotia Power infrastructure.

Traffic Impact: Stop and go will be in place on North Street, between Dublin and Oxford streets, and at the intersections of North and Oxford streets, as well as at the intersection of Oxford Street and Chebucto Road. The sidewalk on the west side of North Street, between Dublin and Oxford streets will be closed.

Road Closure – Hollis Street

Location: Hollis Street, from Salter to Bishop streets

Time: 
9 a.m. to 6 p.m.


Work details:
 This work is to support underground infrastructure and asphalt reinstatement.


Traffic impact: 
The sidewalk on the east side and the bike lane will be closed while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Cowie Hill Road

Location: 166 Cowie Hill Road, Halifax

Date: Monday, November 14

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details:​ The work is for natural gas service installation.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway, with one lane of traffic maintained. Pedestrian and emergency access will be maintained. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Seal Island Bridge will be reduced to one lane for inspections from Monday, November 14, through Monday, November 28.Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.—VICTORIA COUNTY: Trunk 30, TarbotvaleTrunk 30, from 500 metres west of Route 312, is reduced to one lane until December 20 for replacement of a retaining wall.Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.—

CONTINUING WORK

ANNAPOLIS COUNTY: Brickton Bridge, Brickton

Brickton Bridge on Mount Hanley Road will be closed for repairs until December 16.

A detour is in place.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Highway 104, James River

Highway 104, westbound lane about one kilometre west of James River Interchange, Exit 30, is reduced to one lane for about one kilometre.

Twinning work continues until 2023.

Signs are in place and drivers are encouraged to use caution.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Burnett Bridge, Pine Grove

Burnett Bridge, over McLean Brook on Route 224, is closed until further notice.

Detour signs and a 30-tonne weight restriction are in place. All other trucks are to follow the posted truck route. The detour is via Saint Andrews River Road.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Old Truro Road, Tatamagouche

Old Truro Road, from Kennedy Hill intersection to the Cross Road in North River, is closed until further notice due to a large culvert failure.

A detour is in place.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Salmon River Bridge, Truro

Salmon River Bridge, on Highway 102 between exits 14 and 14A, is reduced to one lane northbound until Wednesday, November 16, due to work on the bridge decking.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Slade Road, Tatamagouche

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice due to a bridge closure.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Apple River Bridge

Apple River Bridge, on Shulie Road between Advocate and Joggins, is closed until further notice due to structural damage.

Signs and detour are in place.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Route 344 (Main Street), Mulgrave

Route 344/Main Street traffic is being re-routed onto the newly installed detour bridge.

The entrance to Mill Street from Main Street is closed, and drivers should use an alternate route. Signs are in place.

The detour will remain in place until mid-November.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 102, Bedford/Lower Sackville

Highway 102, from Exit 4A to Exit 4C, will have lane reductions and intermittent road closures on the northbound and southbound highway for the construction of the Highway 107-Highway 102 Interchange.

Highway 102 northbound and southbound, Highway 101, Bedford Highway, Bedford Bypass, Duke Street, Glendale Avenue and Sackville Drive will have intermittent road closures for blasting until June 2023.

Traffic control will be on-site. Road closures for blasting will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday to Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday. Lane reductions will occur from sunrise to sunset Monday to Thursday and from sunrise to noon on Friday.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 101, Windsor

The eastbound off-ramp at Exit 6, Highway 101, is closed for the construction of a new interchange to downtown Windsor.

A detour is available via Exit 5A. The off-ramp will be closed until September 2023.

HANTS COUNTY: Hydes Bridge, Lantz

Hydes Bridge on Highway 277 is closed until further notice.

A detour is in place via Dutch Settlement Road, Elmsdale Road and Trunk 2. Signs are in place.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Dunmore Road, Dunmore

Dunmore Road, from one kilometre east of Trunk 19 easterly for 6.3 kilometres, is reduced to one lane for gravelling until November 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Indian Path Bridge, Bayport

Indian Path Bridge, Route 332, is closed for replacement until further notice.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY:  East River West Side Road, Eureka

The section between 6280 East River West Side Road and Churchville Road is closed until November 30 for the replacement of the Eureka Mills Bridge.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: Westville Road, New Glasgow

Westville Road at Highway 104 is closed nightly, Sunday through Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Work continues until November 30. A detour will be in place and drivers should proceed with caution.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Royal Bridge, Isle Madame

Port Royal Bridge on Port Royal Road is closed until further notice. A detour is in place on MacEachern Road.

SHELBURNE COUNTY: Highway 103, Jordan Falls

Highway 103, about 100 metres west of Exit 24, has alternating lane closures for rehabilitation work on Jordan Falls Bridge until November 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Highway 105

Highway 105, from 3.2 kilometres west of Trunk 30 easterly to 600 metres east of Route 312, is reduced to one lane for road work until November 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.
