The Royal Canadian Air Force will conduct flypasts for several Remembrance Day commemorations across Canada on November 11. These will be carried out by aircraft from Royal Canadian Air Force Wings throughout Canada at various times throughout the day.
The National Remembrance Day Ceremony in Ottawa, along with other ceremonies in the National Capital Region, will feature a flypast by CF-18 Hornet fighter jets. Flypasts by Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft will also take place in other communities across Canada, as follows:
§Nova Scotia – Bridgewater (CP-140 Aurora); Chester (CP-140 Aurora); Halifax (CH-148 Cyclone); Kingston (CP-140 Aurora); Lunenburg (CP-140 Aurora); and Mahone Bay (CP-140 Aurora).

Municipal service level adjustments for Remembrance Day 2022
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of the following municipal program and service level adjustments for Remembrance Day, Friday, Nov. 11:
Solid Waste Collection and Facility Hours
No municipal garbage, organics or recyclables collection services will take place on Remembrance Day. The curbside collection of garbage, organics or recyclables normally scheduled for Friday, Nov. 11, will occur instead on Saturday, Nov. 12. Residents are reminded that collection services can begin as early as 7 a.m. to ensure collection, materials may be placed curbside the evening prior to collection day.
The Household Special Waste (HSW) Depot in Bayers Lake will be closed on Saturday, Nov. 12, but will be open on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Otter Lake Waste Management Facility, the Halifax recycling facility and municipal composting facilities will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11, but will be open for regular hours on Saturday, Nov. 12.

Halifax Transit Bus and Ferry Services
In recognition of those who serve our country, Halifax Transit is offering free transit to all veterans and military personnel, and their accompanying family members, on Remembrance Day. On Friday, Nov. 11, veterans and military personnel wishing to use the free transit service are asked to be in uniform or display their military identification upon boarding. This offer extends to Halifax Transit bus and harbour ferry services, as well as registered Access-A-Bus users. Residents are also advised that buses will pull over at 11 a.m. to pause for three minutes of silence, to honour and remember the men and women who serve and continue to serve.

Recreation Facilities, Programs and Services
Most municipally-operated recreation facilities will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11. Residents are advised to call ahead to their respective facility for operating hours and program information. Contact information for municipally-operated facilities is online.
Parking
On-street paid parking will be free on Friday, Nov. 11. Motorists are reminded to abide by other posted signage, including no stopping, accessible parking spaces and no parking zones.
Customer Contact Centres
The 311 Contact Centre will be operating on regular hours on Friday, Nov. 11 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Customer Service Centres that provide in-person access to municipal services and payments will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11, and will reopen for regular business hours on Monday, Nov. 14.

Traffic Delays – Remembrance Day 2022
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of a number of rolling street closures and traffic delays that will be in place across the region on Friday, Nov. 11 to facilitate Remembrance Day parades.
Local ceremonies will be taking place to honour our veterans and those still serving with the Canadian Armed Forces.
Traffic delays will be in place at the following locations:
- Province House, Halifax(10 a.m. to noon). The Princess Louise Fusilliers Remembrance Day parade will begin at the Maritime Museum, proceed north on Lower Water Street, west on Duke Street and then south on Hollis Street where they will stop for a ceremony at Province House. Following the ceremony, the parade will proceed south on Hollis Street, then turn east on Sackville Street, north on Lower Water Street before ending on Prince Street.
- Cenotaph at Sackville Heritage Park, Sackville (10:40 a.m. to noon). The parade will begin at the Cobequid Road Transit Terminal, proceed down Memory Lane to the Cenotaph and then return.
- Cenotaph at Earl Francis Spryfield Memorial Royal Canadian Legion, Spryfield (10:40 a.m. to 11 a.m.). The parade will begin at Shoppers Drug Mark at 315 Herring Cove Road, travel south on Herring Cove Road, west on Sussex Street to the Earl Francis Spryfield Memorial Royal Canadian Legion Hall at 7 Sussex Street.
Some events include marching back to the point of departure following the ceremony. There may also be processions not included here for events being held in other areas of the municipality. Residents are encouraged to contact their local Royal Canadian Legion or visit their website to learn more.
Halifax Regional Police will be on site to escort the parades and direct traffic in the surrounding areas. Motorists are advised to obey officers on the street and watch for increased pedestrian volumes throughout the morning. Given the anticipated traffic delays, those attending Remembrance Day ceremonies are encouraged to allocate extra time in their travel plans to allow for parking.
