Inverness County District RCMP respond to drowning in Margaree River

On October 4, 2022, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Inverness County District RCMP, fire and EHS responded to a report of two men in distress in the Margaree River, near Margaree Forks.

Upon arrival, RCMP officers learned that the Margaree Forks Volunteer Fire Department had managed to pull the two Massachusetts men, who had been fishing, from the water.

A 63-year-old man was being treated for signs of exposure, while CPR was being conducted on a 73-year-old, who was unconscious. CPR was conducted both by members of the Margaree Forks Volunteer Fire Department and EHS.

Sadly, the 73-year-old man could not be resuscitated and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
