Police charge two people in relation to incident at a correctional facility

 

Halifax Regional Police have charged two people in relation to an incident that occurred earlier this year at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Dartmouth.

 

On July 18, police received a report of an assault that had occurred the day before at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility. An inmate, a 47-year-old man, threw bodily fluids on a correctional service officer, a 36-year-old man, who then assaulted the inmate. The inmate was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

 

Sheldon Tremont Broome, 47, is scheduled to appear at a later date in Dartmouth Provincial Court to face charges of assault a peace officer with a weapon.

 

Ian MacNeil, 36, is scheduled to appear at a later date in Dartmouth Provincial Court to face charges of aggravated assault.
