RCMP charge two men and a woman with Attempted Murder

 

The Kings District RCMP General Investigative Section has charged two men and a woman with attempted murder after a stabbing on Bishopville Rd. in Bishopville.

On August 16, at approximately 8:30 a.m., West Hants District RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing in Windsor. RCMP officers learned that a man had presented himself to the local hospital with injuries consistent with those of a stabbing.

The victim, a 26-year-old Windsor man, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and identified two suspects as having been involved in the stabbing. The investigation determined the incident was targeted in nature and occurred on Bishopville Rd. in Bishopville. RCMP investigators also determined that a third suspect had attempted to aid the two suspects involved in the stabbing.

Later that same day, RCMP officers arrested a 67-year-old Hantsport man outside a home on Riverview Rd. in Hantsport. A search warrant was subsequently executed on the home and RCMP officers seized firearms, ammunition and cleaning supplies. RCMP officers also seized the vehicle that was used during the stabbing. RCMP Forensic Identification Services executed a search warrant on the seized vehicle and conducted a forensic examination.

 

On August 18, at approximately 3 p.m., the Halifax District RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit and Criminal Intelligence Service of Nova Scotia located and arrested the two suspects, a 41-year-old Liverpool man and a 22-year-old Halifax woman, that were involved in the stabbing.

Eric Hubley, 41, Lexus Young, 22, and Arnold Clifton Messervey, 67, have been charged with:

  • Attempt to Commit Murder;
  • Aggravated Assault;
  • Assault with a Weapon (two counts);
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose;
  • Uttering Threats;
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized;
  • Contravention of Firearms Storage Regulations;
  • Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order

Messervey is facing an additional charge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm. He was released on conditions and will appear in Kentville Provincial court on September 27, 2022, at 9:30 a.m.

Hubley is facing additional charges of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Failure to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order (2 counts). Both Hubley and Young have been remanded into custody. Young will appear in Kentville Provincial Court on August 25, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. Hubley will appear in Kentville Provincial Court on August 29, 2022, at 9:30 a.m.

 

The investigation was led by the Kings District RCMP General Investigative Section, with assistance from the Valley Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, Kings District RCMP, West Hants District RCMP, West Hants District RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit and General Investigation Section, Criminal Intelligence Service of Nova Scotia, the Halifax District RCMP Street Crime Unit and RCMP Forensic Identification Services.
