NS SPCA Adoptable Highlight – Kaiser

Hello gorgeous!

Meet Kaiser, a 5-year young German Shepherd looking for a new home and family to adventure with. Kaiser is very strong boy who needs leash training! Like most Shepherds, Kaiser can take a minute to be comfortable when meeting some new people and then he will be your shadow, accompanying his favorite people everywhere he can, including the bathroom! Kaiser loves playing with his toys and showing them off to everyone.

Kaiser previously lived with a dog but has exhibited significant dog reactivity (barking, pulling, jumping) since coming to the shelter. He also exhibits high prey drive around the cats, bunnies and other small critters at the shelter so we believe he needs to be the only pet in his new home. True to German Shepherd nature Kaiser is protective of his home and will sound the alarm and bark if he sees people or pets passing by outside his home. His new family will have to do training to help him learn to relax when he sees people or pets outside the home windows or doors. This behaviour may also be managed more easily if his new home was set back off the road, away from sidewalks or was in a quiet neighbourhood with little foot traffic.

Kaiser is being cared for at the HRM Animal Redemption Centre, 201 Brownlow Ave, Suite #9. All meet and greets and adoptions are done by appointment only at this location, however we often have last minute appointments available.
