Registration open for Natal Day Parade

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that registration remains open for Natal Day parade entries.

As part of the municipality’s Natal Day weekend programming, residents are invited to participate in the Halifax-Dartmouth Natal Day parade on Monday, August 1, 2022. The parade will begin at Novalea Drive in Halifax ​ at 10 a.m., and will conclude at Maple Street in Dartmouth. A maximum of 60 entries will be permitted to participate. In addition to the parade, the municipality will be offering the following Natal Day weekend programming:

  • Grand Oasis x Natal Day Festival Series from Friday, July 29 to Monday, August 1. The four days of programming offer both Natal Day celebrations and a tribute to Emancipation Day. Festival artists include Ria Mae, Aquakultre, Haviah Mighty, AMA LOU, and events including a meet-and-greet with Bob the Builder and RUBBLE from Paw Patrol, the Buskers All-Star Finale, and more.
  • Fireworks show over the Halifax-Dartmouth Harbour on Saturday, July 30 at 10 p.m.
  • Dartmouth Summer Sunshine Series concert at the Dartmouth Ferry Terminal on Sunday, July 31 from 1:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. featuring the African Nova Scotia Music Association Freedom Festival.
  • Dartmouth Natal Day Road Race on Monday, August 1 at 8 a.m.

Residents are encouraged to explore the many community-led events over the Natal Day weekend, offering a diverse mix of music, culture, and family-friendly fun. Residents are also reminded that Halifax Transit will be offering free transit service on Fridays and free Alderney Ferry service on Saturdays as part of the municipality’s​ Free Fares Fridays & Free Sail Saturdays​ program.
