Special weather statement in effect
Significant rainfall continues.
Total rainfall: 25 to 45 mm. Locally higher amounts near 50 mm possible.
Locations: parts of mainland Nova Scotia, and eastern Cape Breton.
Time span: ongoing today.
Remarks: Rain is forecast to remain moderately heavy in nature today. Peak rainfall rates of 5-15 mm/h are possible. The rain will ease by this evening. Thunderstorms are also possible over the mainland today, further enhancing local precipitation totals.
Heavy downpours can cause reduced visibility while driving, flash floods, and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
