Note: Each week the local listings are expanded and updated. During the week new and updated tasks are added. Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

Traffic Delay – Hollis Street

Location: Hollis Street, between Upper Water and George streets

Date: Friday, June 17

Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Work details: This work is related to staging for production vehicles.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Construction – Chain Lake Drive

Location:​ Chain Lake Drive from Lacewood to Washmill Lake Drives

Date: Thursday, June 16 to Friday, June 17

Time: 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Work details:​ This work is for pavement maintenance.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact:​ Lane drops will be in place while work is underway.​ Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Night Time Road Closure – Hollis Street

Location: Hollis Street, between Cogswell Street and Duke Street

Date: Sunday, June 19 to Thursday, June 23

Time: 6 p.m. daily until 6 a.m. the following morning

Work details: This closure is to facilitate the installation of emergency water sprinklers to buildings.

Traffic Impact: Hollis Street will be down to one lane for this block in the evenings. The sidewalk on the west side will be closed during this time as well. Motorists can expect delays in the area and are asked to take alternative routes where possible. Pedestrian access will be maintained on the east side of the street.

Location: Cobequid Road, at the intersection with Glendale Drive

Date: Friday, June 17

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Work details: This work is to install underground infrastructure.

Traffic impact: All ways traffic will be maintained for the duration of the work.

UPDATE: On Thursday, June 16 and Friday, June 17, traffic signals will be shut down during working hours. During this time, traffic control personnel will be in place to direct traffic, pedestrians, and cyclists.

​ Traffic Delay ​ – Beaver Bank Road, at the intersection of Millwood Drive and Stokil Drive

Location: On Beaver Bank Road, at the intersection of Millwood Drive and Stokil Drive

Date: Friday, June 10 to Friday, June 17, 2022

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays only.

Work details: This work is for traffic signal installation. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: During this work there will be lane drops with occasional stop and go traffic. At times, the traffic signals will be shut down and traffic control personnel will be in place to direct traffic, pedestrians and bicycles. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible. On Thursday, June 16 and Friday, June 17, traffic signals will be shut down during working hours. During this time, traffic control personnel will be in place to direct traffic, pedestrians, and cyclists.

Location: Herring Cove Road from the Armdale Roundabout to Windemere Road ​

Date:​ Wednesday, June 15

Time: Noon to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is related to the removal of barriers on the sidewalk.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway and the sidewalks will be closed.​ Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Construction – Upper Water Street

 

Location: Near 2111 Upper Water Street (HMCS Scotian)

Date: Tuesday, June 14 to Friday, June 17

Time: 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Work details: A noise by-law exemption has been granted to support the replacement of a sanitation manhole. This work is in support of the Cogswell District project.​ ​

Traffic impact: Two lanes of traffic on Upper Water Street will be maintained and the sidewalks will remain open. Access to HMCS Scotian will be maintained.

One Way Road Closure – Bayview Road

Location: Bayview Road from Woodbank Terrace to Lacewood Drive

Date:​ Tuesday, June 14 to Tuesday, July 26

Time: Weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work includes asphalt paving and concrete repairs.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: A one-way closure will be in place.​ Motorists entering Bayview Road from the Bedford Highway will be detoured to Gateway Road for access to access Lacewood Drive. Motorists entering Bayview Road from Lacewood Drive will have thru access to Bedford Highway.​ Marked detours will be in place.​ Pedestrian access will remain in place during this closure. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Location: John Savage Avenue, from Akerley Boulevard to Commodore Drive

Date: Monday, June 13 to Thursday, June 30

Time: Weekdays, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Location: Wright Avenue, from Windmill Road to MacDonald Avenue

Date: Monday, June 13 to Friday, June 17

Time: 6 pm to 9:30 pm daily

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place with occasional stop and go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place on Wright Avenue and Burnside Drive while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Construction – South Park Street and Spring Garden Road Intersection

Location: Intersection of South Park Street and Spring Garden Road

Date: Monday, June 13 to Monday, June 27 (weekdays only)

Time: Weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. ​

Work details: This work is in support of the Imagine Spring Garden Road streetscaping project.

Traffic impact: The left-turn lane on Spring Garden eastbound, heading north onto South Park Street, will be restricted. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​ ​

Cyclists will be required to dismount, or integrate back into vehicle traffic, from the protected facility ahead of the intersection.

There will be a rolling sidewalk closure, at one corner of the intersection at a time. A marked pedestrian detour will be in place. Pedestrians will be directed around the intersection.

All businesses will remain open, with pedestrian access maintained.

Tree Trimming – Linear Park Trail

Location: Linear Park Trail, between Washmill Lake Drive and Radcliff Drive

Date: Monday, June 13 to Monday, June 27, 2022

Time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily

Work details: This work is to remove trees and branches posing a danger or threat to Nova Scotia Power’s electrical system. This work will be facilitated by Nova Scotia Power’s vegetation management contractor, Tree Works.

Traffic impact: The trail may be closed at times to facilitate this work. Users are asked to exercise caution and be aware of barriers, staff, and equipment on site.

CONTINUING WORK

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Highway 104, James River

Highway 104, westbound lane about one kilometre west of James River Interchange, Exit 30, is reduced to one lane for about one kilometre.

Twinning work continues until 2023.

Signs are in place and drivers are encouraged to use caution.

CAPE BRETON REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Mira Gut Bridge, Mira Gut

Construction on Mira Gut Bridge will continue into the summer. Mira Bay Drive, from Brickyard Road to Mira Gut Lane, is limited to local traffic only.

Access to the beach parking area and washroom facilities will remain open during construction.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Burnett Bridge

Burnett Bridge, over MacLean Brook on Route 224 in Pine Grove/Gays River, is closed until further notice.

Detour signs and 30-tonne weight restriction are in place. All other trucks to follow posted truck route. Detour is via Saint Andrews River Road.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Old Truro Road, Tatamagouche

Old Truro Road, from Kennedy Hill intersection to the Cross Road in North River, is closed until further notice due to a large culvert failure.

A detour is in place.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Route 344 (Main Street), Mulgrave

Route 344/Main Street traffic is being re-routed onto the newly installed detour bridge.
The entrance to Mill Street from Main Street is closed, and drivers should use an alternate route. Signs are in place.

The detour will remain in place until August 31.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Trunk 16

Trunk 16, from 1.4 kilometres north of Lincolnville Loop, north to Mattie Road, will be reduced to one lane for brush clearing and road work until August 31.

Traffic control is on site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 101, Windsor

The eastbound off-ramp at Exit 6, Highway 101, is closed for the construction of a new interchange to downtown Windsor.

A detour is available via Exit 5A. The off-ramp will be closed until September 2023.

HANTS COUNTY: Hydes Bridge, Lantz

Hydes Bridge on Highway 277 is closed until further notice.

A detour is in place via Dutch Settlement Road, Elmsdale Road and Trunk 2. Signs are in place.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Orangedale

Orangedale-Iona Road, from Portage Road southbound for about 5.7 kilometres, will be reduced to one lane for gravelling and drainage work until July 31.

Traffic control is on site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Indian Path Bridge, Bayport

Indian Path Bridge, Route 332, is closed for replacement until October.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: Route 289 (Little Harbour Road)

Route 289 (Little Harbour Road), from the New Glasgow town line northerly to Route 348, is reduced to one lane for paving and patching until August 31.

Work takes place from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Traffic control is on site.

PICTOU COUNTY: Westville Road

Westville Road at the Westville Road Bridge over Highway 104 will be closed nightly, Sunday through Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Work continues until August 31. A detour will be in place and drivers should proceed with caution.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Royal Bridge, Isle Madame

Port Royal Bridge on Port Royal Road is closed until further notice. A detour is in place on MacEachern Road.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Trunk 4

Trunk 4, from Riverside Road eastbound for about 7.1 kilometres, will be reduced to one lane for repaving until September 30.

Traffic control is on site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.


SHELBURNE COUNTY: Highway 103, Jordan Falls

Highway 103, about 100 metres west of Exit 24, will have alternating lane closures for rehabilitation work on Jordan Falls Bridge until August 31.

Traffic control lights are in place. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.
