Lunenburg District RCMP charge man after incident in Camperdown

Lunenburg District RCMP has charged a man after an incident on Sarty Rd. in Camperdown.

On May 15, 2022, at approximately 7 p.m., Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a report of a man being assaulted at a home on Sarty Rd. in Camperdown. Upon arrival at the scene, RCMP officers learned that the victim, a 19-year-old Bridgewater man, had been sitting on a couch in the home, when an 18-year-old Camperdown man pointed a pellet gun at him and threatened to shoot him. A physical confrontation ensued where the victim was struck numerous times by the barrel of the gun, a knife was also produced by the suspect, who began slashing at the victim. The victim fled the home and hid in a truck where he called 911. The suspect then ran outside and began striking the truck with the gun and the knife while threatening the victim. The suspect then returned inside the home.

RCMP located the suspect in the home and took him safely into custody. He was transported to the Bridgewater Rural Detachment and held in cells overnight.

The suspect has since been released on conditions and will appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on August 3, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. He will be facing charges of Assault with a Weapon (2 counts), Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Uttering Threats.
