GE Brand Bottom Freezer, French Door Refrigerators Recalled Due to Fall Hazard

Issue

In some products, the freezer drawer handle can detach when the consumer tries to open the freezer drawer, posing a fall hazard to consumers.

As of April 8, 2022, the company has received no reports of injuries in Canada. In the United States, GE Appliances, a Haier Company has received 37 reports of injuries, including three serious injuries from falling while attempting to open the freezer drawer.

Affected products

This recall involves GE Brand 36” (91.5 cm) wide, bottom freezer refrigerator with fingerprint resistant stainless-steel coating.

The relevant serial numbers begin with the following prefixes:

DR, FR, GR, HR, LR, MR, RR, SR, TR, VR, ZR, AS, DS, FS, GS, HS, LS, MS

 

What you should do

Consumers should contact MC Commercial Inc. for a free inspection and repair. Once inspected or repaired, the product can continue to be used, sold or redistributed.

Joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and MC Commercial Inc.
